Whilst many children will be happy to spend two whole weeks simply playing in our swimming pool and exploring the property, there are also many local attractions for children of various ages. The places below feature everything from Pinocchio's village to underground caves for older children.
The European Fauna Park at Poppi (located about half way between Arezzo and Florence on the SS.70/S.71) is open all year round and allows visitors to see many varieties of wildlife including deer, bears, birds of prey and wolves. There is a picnic area as well as a restaurant open during the summer.
Il Parco di Pinocchio (Web site in Italian only) at Collodi is an open air museum dedicated to the adventures of the worlds most famous wooden boy. The park is located just off the A11 Chiesina Uzzanese exit (near Montecatini).
The Cavallino Matto amusement park (Click the "Visita Il Parco" link on tier web site to view the attractions) at Marina di Castagneto - Donoraticao (South of Cecina) provides a variety of childrens rides and amusements as well as picnic areas, car parking and restaurants. The park is located at Marina di Castagneto - Donoratico which is south of Cecina on the cost. To get there take the Siena-Grosetto road (SS. 223); at Grosetto take the SS.1 (Civitavecchia/Livorno) to the Donoratico exit. Follow directions for about 1km to Marina di Castagneto.
There is also an AcquaPark (Water Park) at Marina di Cecina which provides a wide variety of water attractions in a vast area of parkland.
Pistoia Zoo houses over 600 varieties of birds, mammals and reptiles including Lions, Leopards and Elephants. Take the Pistoia exit from the A11 north west of Florence and follow signs to "Giardino Zoologico" (4km from the motorway exit).
Prehistoric Park at Peccioli (nr. Pisa) - features reconstruction of 18 dinosaurs, volcano, bears and cavemen. Leave the SGCFirenze-Pisa-Livorno at the Pontedera exit or leave the A11 at the AltoPascio exit and follow signs for Pecciolo.
